Mayor João Campos

Soon, participation in numerous festivals and youth orchestras began; and consequently, it didn't take long to collaborate with local groups and artists, such as the Egan Quarteto and pianist Elyanna Caldas. During this period, he had the privilege of counting on the guidance of influential names, including Christopher Marwood, renowned cellist and founder of the Vanbrugh Quartet and the National String Quartet Foundation. Eugene also had the opportunity to learn from conductor and composer Alan Cutts, further enriching his training.

As a soloist, Eugene won awards, such as the Feis Ceoil 2014 and CSM Concerto Competition 2015, when performing concertos by Dvorak and Shostakovich, both known for their high degree of technical difficulty. In Ireland, he performed solo recitals in prestigious concert halls, such as the National Concert Hall, Royal Dublin Society and Limerick Concert Hall. In addition, he performed as a soloist on tour, performing Schumann's concerto for cello and orchestra.

A member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) during its summer tour in 2015, Eugene performed in several countries, including Austria, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Scotland. During these performances, he had the opportunity to perform in prestigious concert halls, such as Het Concertgebouw. In addition, he has collaborated with several orchestras on academic programs with Grafenegg Academy Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra and was a member of the Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra. Throughout his career, Eugene has had the honor of working alongside renowned conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Peter Stark, Xian Zhang and Leon Botstein.

As a conductor, Eugene served as musical director and conductor of the inclusive choir Choir ConFusion. This productive period was marked by the group's artistic and social achievements, such as the recording of the single 'We Love The Same', reaching number one sales in digital catalogs in Ireland.

During its performance, the choir also won the International Gala Awards in the Entertainment Personality category in 2015. Furthermore, it conducted the group Cork Cellos accompanying soprano Kelley Lonergan Petcu, when presenting Bachianas Brasileiras Nº 5, by Heitor Villa-Lobos, at University College Cork. Eugene honed his conducting skills through workshops with Parcival Módolo, Peter Stark, and during the pandemic, with Isaac Karabtchevsky.

Constantly learning, in 2023 Eugene participated in the IX edition of the Ouro Branco Cello Festival, featuring masterclasses from leading cellists working around the world such as Márcio Carneiro, Matias de Oliveira Pinto and Fábio Presgrave. Since 2019, the year he returned to Brazil, Eugene has performed in several projects and is now part of the Recife Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Lanfranco Marcelletti.

Eugene Lamy Alves is a French-Brazilian cellist and conductor, born in Recife, where he began his musical studies at the State Technical School of Musical Creativity. Graduated and mastered with honors from the Technological University of Munster (MTUCSM) in Ireland between 2015 and 2017, respectively.

Eugene was born into a musical family, being introduced to the life of a concert artist while still in the womb of his mother, violinist Marie Savine Egan, taking his first steps in music alongside her, and helping her in classes taught in the Arte & Life in mid-2001, when he was just eight years old.

At the age of 10, during the rehearsals of the Egan Quartet, he already showed interest in a musical career. It was during this period that he chose the cello as his instrument and met his first teachers, cellists Fabiano Menezes and Mariza Johnson.
